Manchester Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu: Bushido BJJ

Manchester Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu: Bushido BJJ delivers Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and combat self-defense instruction in Manchester, Connecticut. Established in 1999, the academy operates locations in Manchester and Hebron, serving students and practitioners across Connecticut seeking functional grappling skills and personal discipline. The academy was founded by head instructor Rob Magao, a third-degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, 25-year law enforcement veteran, and SWAT instructor who began his martial arts training in Judo in the 1980s. Magao earned his blue and purple belts under UFC veteran Kenny Florian before receiving his black belt and subsequent degrees under Master Pedro Sauer. The coaching team includes veteran black belts, law enforcement instructors, and wrestling coaches guiding courses in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, mixed martial arts, wrestling takedowns, and youth martial arts. Curriculum pathways emphasize situational leverage, positional control, joint submissions, and practical personal protection without reliance on brute force. Practitioners, student-athletes, and families in Manchester can consult the published schedule and visit the academy to observe classes and begin their martial arts journey.
