Tom Barlow co-founded Escapology BJJ with Chelsea Leah, and the two spent the better part of two years developing the framework for the academy. Active on the UK and international competition circuit since the mid-2000s, he received his black belt from Braulio Estima in 2011 and has trained with Eric Paulson, Andre Galvao, Rafa and Gui Mendes and Otavio Sousa, among others. Barlow is a three-time No-Gi World Champion at featherweight and a European Champion, has competed in professional submission-only events such as Polaris and Tuff, and is a recurring commentator for Polaris. He teaches regular seminars around the UK and Europe, often in tandem with Chelsea, and has a long background in several striking arts.
